

Mr. Whitsett attended Murrah High School, Millsaps and Belhaven Colleges in Jackson while gaining notoriety as a recording artist and bandleader.
His band, Tim Whitsett & The Imperials (later known as The Imperial Show Band) were a popular live act and recorded dozens of singles with various labels.
Mr. Whitsett started his first record label and publishing company while still in high school, and in 1970, accepted a position with Stax Records in Memphis, TN, and transitioned in to the career of music publishing becoming a noted author and sought out consultant in the field.
Mr. Whitsett now joins the love of his life, Janis ('née Fletcher) (1947-1996) and is preceded in death by his brother, Carson (1945-2007).
He is survived by son, Paul Timothy III and daughter, Joanna (Jamie) Evans; grandchildren, Ethan and Fletcher Evans and his sisters, Lucy (Jimmy) McGuire, Kit (Mark) Fields, and Cynthia (Wayne) Vowell. Mr. Whitsett was also a loving and very proud uncle.
Mr. Whitsett, by his family, friends, and peers will be forever admired for his intellect, integrity, wit, and wisdom and beloved for his cheerful, boundless humor and heart.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 on Friday, January 21st at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly wishes, if possible, donations be made to MusiCares.org.
