Peggy Burwell

Peggy was born on September 22, 1932 in Madison County, Mississippi to the late Sallie H. Luckett and Patrick H. Luckett. Peggy grew up in Madison County and graduated Valedictorian from Farmhaven School. Following her graduation Peggy moved to Jackson where she worked as a medical stenographer for Dr. Charles Neil, she later worked at The Bone and Joint Clinic. Peggy gave birth to her son, Luke, in May 1962 at which time she retired from work and dedicated her life to being a wife and mother.

Peggy enjoyed baking desserts for family and friends, watching Mississippi State sports, fishing and even knocked a few doves down in her day with a 410 shotgun.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick Henry and Sallie Hayes Luckett, her siblings, Charles H. Luckett, Pat H. Luckett, Jr., Gus G. Luckett, Harriette Luckett Kee and William Stanford Luckett. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Clem Burwell and her son, Luke Burwell. Peggy is also survived by her siblings, Thomas Luckett and Sarah Luckett Gorrell along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gluckstadt on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 10am with the service immediately following at 11am. Interment will follow the service at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Mayo Clinic.
