Master Chief Robert Williams

Robert Williams, 79, of Brandon went to be with the Lord at home on Monday July 03, 2023.

Robert Williams was born in Selma, North Carolina on September 24, 1943 to the late Martha Williams.

He received his early education in public schools. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he rose to the rank of Master Chief and retired after thirty years of honorable service. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (2ND Award), Good Conduct Award (3RD Award), and Meritorious Unit Commendation.

He attended Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

He retired from teaching at Canton High School of Mississippi, where he taught naval science.

He faithfully attended Vineyard Church, where he was an active working member, until his health began to decline. He had previously attended True Vine Church.

He was married to his loving wife for fifty years, whom he adored. In his leisure time, he enjoyed traveling, cooking, watching westerns, and gospel singing. He also enjoyed being with family.

He knew no strangers, he loved people, and he inspired and uplifted everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Williams; and grandson, Teddy Vigil.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Iona Williams; three daughters, Antonia Siggers (Russell), Veneta Zerkle, and Pastor Dr. Fiona Williams; six grandchildren, James Zerkle, Jeremy Zerkle, Joseph Zerkle, Jonathan Zerkle, Jonathan Siggers, and Jadon Siggers; one great grandchild, Keyon Zerkle; as well as cousins and other relatives and friends and church families.

A visitation for Robert will be held Friday, July 14, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Pkwy, Ridgeland, Mississippi 39157. A visitation will occur Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 1161 Highland Colony Pkwy, Ridgeland, Mississippi 39157. A funeral service will occur Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM, 1161 Highland Colony Pkwy, Ridgeland, Mississippi 39157.

Robert will be laid to rest in Parkway Memorial Cemetery, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, Mississippi.
