Ronald Victor Foley, 90, passed away on March 11, 2018. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Eleanor Foley; son, Dean Michael Foley; sister, Clare Easterling; and brother, Harry Foley. He is survived by his wife, Sarah H. Foley; sister, Geraldine Frasier; sons, David (Patsy) Foley and Carl (Arlene) Foley; one granddaughter, Sarah (Hunter) Brock; four grandsons, Clint Stephens, Michael Foley, Connor Foley, and Dylan (Elena) Foley; and two great-grandchildren, Lennon Stephens and Jacob Brock. Ronald was born in Dublin, Ireland, on May 1, 1927. At age seven, his family moved to London, England. During the German Blitz, Ronald, in his capacity as a British Boy Scout, assisted people into air raid shelters, spotted for incoming air attacks, and helped remove rubble and victims from affected buildings. At the end of the war, Ronald joined the British Army and was stationed in various locations throughout Europe including Italy and Austria. He was also part of the UN sponsored involvement in Palestine during the creation of the Jewish state in 1948. Following World War II, Ronald immigrated to the United States in 1949. On September 2, 1950, Ronald married Sarah Catherine Hinson; they celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in 2017. He spent his professional life in sales first for Colonial Baking Company and then Cochran Sysco Food Services until his retirement in 2000. Following retirement, Ronald became a United States citizen. However, left with too much free time, Ronald worked at Kroger in Madison for several years and found a new world of friends. Throughout his life, Ronald’s faith was a fundamental facet of his personality, and he was a devoted communicant at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jackson and at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Madison where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Ronald was a devoted father to this three sons, encouraging them in their academic and professional pursuits throughout their lives. Furthermore, Ronald proved to be a loving and involved grandfather to the smartest and most beautiful and handsome grandchildren in the world. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 15th, at 2:00 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 14, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Please join his family to celebrate a life well-lived.
