

Sam was born in Attala County, MS, on April 7, 1922, and lived in Attala County. He then moved to Jackson, MS, in 1961.
Sam was a Veteran of the US ARMY. Sam worked for M.R.S. MFG Plant, Vickers Hydraulic, Inc., then owned CAIN CARPET AND CLEANING SERVICE for many years. He was custodian for Riverside Independent Methodist Church for 19 years.
Sam was a member of Lakeshore Church on Siwell Road, Byram, MS. He loved his Pastors and church family.
Sam enjoyed baking and sharing his cakes and pies. His favorites were Mandarin Orange cake, Coconut cake and pie. He made two coconut pies one week before passing. He also loved gardening and sharing his large tomatoes. Sam enjoyed carpentry work. He built each of his children a couple of cabinets, which we will always cherish. Sam was a one of a kind and will be greatly missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Ruth Cochran Cain of 66 years; two granddaughters, Sonya Lynn and Teresa Gwyn Harrell; and one grandson, Jonathan Aldy. He is survived by four children, Sarah Aldy (Pete), Ruth Alexander (Mich), DeCe Cain, Sam Cain, Jr. (Ruth); eight grandchildren, Brady Aldy (Vicki), Dennis Aldy (Dara), Tyra McDonald (Mark), Tanya Stephens, Trent Harrell, (Shae), Brock Harrell (Melody), Melissa Jones (Leighton), Vanessa Butts (Cliff); 17 great grandchildren; and 6 great, great grandchildren.
Private services were held at Parkway Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 officiated by Rev. Jay Frazier and Rev. Glynn Pope, Lakeshore Church, Bryam, MS.
Burial was in Parkway Memorial Park.
