Wanda was born in Lumberton, Mississippi and lived in Meridian, Jackson and then Madison. She also maintained a home in Destin, Florida for many years. A graduate of Magee High School and Millsaps College, Wanda married George Edward Copeland in 1947. While attending Millsaps, she was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church for over forty years. Wanda was the loving mother of four children, grandmother of six grandchildren and great-grandmother of six great-grandchildren. In addition to carefully raising and educating her children, she was an avid bridge player, and following in the steps of her mother, an excellent gardener. Wanda enjoyed entertaining in her home and all were welcome to the frequent dinners, lunches and parties.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband George Edward Copeland, Sr. She leaves behind four children, George Edward Copeland, Jr. (Nan), Charles Greg Copeland (Dalene), Patricia Ann Copeland Quinn, and Susan Elizabeth Copeland, six grandchildren, George Edward Copeland, III (Debbie), Spencer Pyles Copeland, Brandy Sanders Quinn, Charles Patrick Copeland (Susan), Dallas Percy Quinn, and Brian Gregory Copeland (Gina), six great-grandchildren, Julianna Copeland, Elizabeth Copeland, Carlise Copeland, Rainey Copeland, Walt Copeland, Madison Copeland, a brother Joe Charles Sanders of Meridian, the family’s dear lifelong friend, William (Bill) Wright, and Max the dog.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday April 16, 2018, at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, Mississippi. Visitation will be held at Parkway on Sunday April 15, 2018 from 5 PM to 6:30 PM Sunday and from 9:30 AM until the service on Monday.
The family suggests donations to the American Heart Association as an alternative to flowers.
