William Brazier was born at South Side Chicago Hospital to Thomas William Brazier (deceased) and Lydia Marie Brazier. He was raised in the Chicago area, eventually settling in Evanston where he completed both his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees at Northwestern University.
William taught Bio and Organic Chemistry for evening students. His passion was teaching those who were eager to learn but who also might not have access to higher education.
At the age of 40, William began his medical training at St. George's University in Grenada. Becoming a physician had been his lifelong dream. He fell in love with the culture and people of the island. It was in Grenada that William made some of his dearest, lifelong friendships.
William's final years of medical training were completed in Brooklyn, New York. He remained an avid lover of the city, traveling to New York several times a year.
Finally, he was matched in Jackson, Mississippi to complete his medical residency at Baptist Memorial Hospital. It was also here where he found his beloved, forever home. William served as the Medical Director at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility, working for Vital Core Health Systems. During his years of treatment, William would say that his passion for his work and the people there kept him alive. He often called them his beautiful, loving family. And that they were.
He is survived by his mother Lydia Schwaegerman, loving brother in law Kenneth Dantes, his nieces and nephews who he loved as his own, Lindsey Dantes, Lauren Dantes, Kenny Dantes and Nicholas Dantes and finally his sister, Diane Dantes, who will deeply miss her fierce protector, wise mentor, wonderful travel companion and dearest friend.
