It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gary Hawkins at the age of 73. Gary, a devoted husband, father, craftsman, and entrepreneur, left this world surrounded by the love of his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sharon; cherished children, Cable and Cole; and grandchildren, Max, Gwen, and Louis. Gary's legacy extends beyond his craftsmanship and the businesses he built.
Gary's skilled hands crafted more than just wood and metal; they shaped a lifetime of memories for those around him. As an entrepreneur, he navigated the challenges of business with resilience and ingenuity, leaving an indelible mark on his community and those he had the pleasure of developing relationships with over time.
After decades of risks and successful businesses, Gary turned his attention to detail to developing a new skill. He became well known for his intricate and beautiful knife-making. He loved using Mississippi pieces to craft his art, from an antler shed to locally sourced pine. Gary’s handmade pieces will be held dear by his friends and family for years to come.
Known for his quick wit and unique humor, Gary was a jokester who could command a room. His ability to find humor in life's moments, both big and small, made him a source of joy and endless entertainment for friends and family alike.
While Gary may no longer be with us, his spirit lives on in the laughter of those who shared in his humor, the strength of the family he built, and the craftsmanship that will endure as a testament to a life well-lived.
A visitation celebrating Gary’s life will be held at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, Mississippi, on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
