

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Thursday, Feb. 19, at St. Richard Catholic Church in Jackson, preceded by visitation at 10 am in the church. Burial will follow in the Canton Cemetery. A memorial Mass will be offered at the Chapel at St. Catherine's Village on Friday, Feb. 20 at 8:30 am.
Bill was born in Canton to William Thomas and Annie Lutz Luckett. He was married for 58 years to Myrtle Gillis. He served in the US Army Air Corps in WW II and in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He graduated from Georgia Tech and spent his professional career as a civil engineer. Bill was a charter and active member of St. Richard's Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Jackson Philatelic Society. An Eagle Scout, Bill was a dedicated supporter of the Boy Scouts.
He was predeceased by his wife, Myrtle, and daughter, Louise Marie. He is survived by his children, Mamie Balestra (Dom), Rosie Wenstrup (Jeff) and Bill Luckett (Chris). He had 5 grandchildren, Elisa Balestra (Eric Zeszotarski), Michael Balestra (Danielle), Annie Balestra Ferrante (Anthony), Adam Luckett and Matthew Wenstrup and 4 great grandchildren, Lucas, Livia, Alice and Samuela. He is the brother of Mary Ann Luckett Reynaud (Sidney) and is the uncle of Ann Reynaud and Sid Reynaud (Michelle), all of Houston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Catholic Charities or St. Dominic's Health Services Foundation-St. Catherine's Village.
