

William H. Nolan, 90, passed away Thursday, June 2nd, at the Hospice Unit of the V.A. Medical Center in Jackson. A graveside service is planned for Thursday, June 9th at 10:00 a.m. at Wright & Ferguson's Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, June 8th.
Mr. Nolan was a native of Philadelphia, PA, but lived in northeast Jackson for 49 years. He attended Overbrook High School in Philadelphia, University of Georgia in Atlanta and the Atlanta Law School. He served as an infantry platoon leader in France during World War II with the 358th Regiment, 90th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart with Three Clusters, Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Croix de Guerre. After retiring from the U.S. Army, he was an executive with the General Services Administration for many years. Mr. Nolan was a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Nolan was preceded in death by his parents William & Marye Nolan of Philadelphia, PA and his wife of 51 years, Kathleen Tumlin Nolan. Survivors include one daughter, Karen Nolan Manzini and husband Marco of Johns Creek, GA and Parma, Italy; one son, William H. Nolan and wife Marian of Scott City, KS; grandchildren Richard C. Nolan of Playa Vista, CA, William Rane Nolan of Cambridge, England, and Lara Manzini Mattana and husband Pierpaolo of Woodbury, MN ; two great-granddaughters, Giulia and Giorgia Mattana and one cousin, Joseph Turtzo and wife Diane of Villas, NJ.
