

Alton Edward Moore, Sr., 75, of 345 Woodhaven Road, Martinsville died Sunday July 1, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Brodnox, Virginia on April 2, 1937 to the late Robert James Moore and Mattie Kidd Moore. He was a truck driver and mechanic for fifty five years with various trucking companies and his latest employer was R. W. Peters Trucking. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Woodlawn Heights Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Corene House and Dorothy Ellis, two brothers, James and Robert “Bobby” Moore.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene Holley Moore of the home, his former wife and mother of his children, Margie Moore of Martinsville, two daughters, Carolyn M. Boitnott Smart and Debra M. Lawson both of Martinsville, a step-daughter, Julie Merriman of Jacksonville, Fla., one son, Alton Edward Moore, Jr. of Martinsville, three sisters, Betty Ann Simmons of Burlington, NC, Jean Morris of Ebony and Rosalee Clay of Lawrenceville, two brothers, Clyde Moore of Richmond and Lonnie Moore of Martinsville, five grandchildren, Jim Boitnott, Roger Moore, Juanita Ann Morrison, Felisha Seay Mellott and Sean Moore, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 in the chapel of Community Funeral Service with Pastor Stanley Waddell officiating, interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends two hours prior to services beginning at 9a.m. in the chapel of Community Funeral Service.
