Beatrice Ruth Thurman

Beatrice Ruth Hawks Thurman, 82, of Martinsville, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Blue Ridge Rehab Center in Martinsville. She was born on January 28, 1932 in Coalwood, West Virginia to William Taylor Hawks and Ellen R. Crotts Hawks. She previously worked at Sales Knitting Company as an Inspector and was a member of Martinsville Primitive Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Sue Williams, her sisters, Delsie Felts, Lera Rippey, Bertha Joyce, Lettie Farmer and Jettie Hawks, her brothers, Clarence Hawks, Eugene Hawks, Lonnie Hawks, Wiley Hawks and Hubert Hawks, and her grandson, Randy Robertson.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo Robertson of Martinsville, her step-sons, Gerald Thurman of Martinsville, Tommy Thurman and wife, Ina of Martinsville, Kenny Thurman and wife, Jane of Florida and Pete Thurman of Florida, her sister, Margie Moore of Martinsville one grandson, Gerald Wayne Robertson, four great grandchildren and step grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2 pm with Kelly Ratcliff officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be private.
