

Charles Wade Hardie, 72, of 965 Axton Road, Axton, died Friday September 14, 2012 at Martinsville Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bassett November 18,1940 to the late Champ Hardie Sr. and Gladys Emerson Hardie. He worked for the Martinsville Bulletin for 21 years and also at Fieldcrest Mills for 33 years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, John Hardy.
Surviving are his wife, Burnice Hardie of the home, one step-son, Buddy Taylor of Axton, three step-daughters, Brenda Radford of Patrick Springs, Betty Shephard of Collinsville and Ann Wilson of Martinsville, two brothers, Champ Hardie Jr. of Ridgeway and Jimmy Hardie of Martinsville, three sisters, Marie Smith of Mississippi, Molly Hanks of Ridgeway and Vicky Stroupe of South Carolina, six step-grandchildren Megan Radford, Jamie Radford, Joshua Radford and three others.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday September 17, 2012 at Community Funeral Services chapel with Cledis Lackey and Allen Preston officiating, interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday September 16, 2012 at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Community Funeral Service in Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.
