Rodgers William Mitchell

Rodgers William Mitchell, 71 of Ridgeway, went home to be with his Lord, Monday, March 3, 2014. He was born in Henry, VA., on June 18, 1942 to the late Raleigh Roscoe Mitchell and Daisy Nichols Mitchell. He was retired after more than forty one years as a truck driver twenty five years with Virginia Carolina Trucking and the last sixteen years with EPPS Trucking Co. Rodgers enjoyed the outdoors and working with wood.

In addition to his parents, Rodgers was preceded in death by one son, Darwin “Keith” Mitchell on February 15, 2014, one sister, Imogene Mitchell and one brother, Edgar Randolph Mitchell.

Surviving are his wife, Lorene Grogan Mitchell of the home, one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Roscoe Mitchell and wife Joan of Lynchburg, granddaughter, Kayla Mitchell, and two special sisters, Louise Colletti of Bassett and Era Mae Rakes of Henry.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 8, 2014, in the McKee-Stone Funeral Home Chapel in Martinsville with Rev. Carlton Duck officiating. Interment for both Rodgers and Keith will be in the Mountain View Cemetery of Ridgeway. The family will receive friends 6-8 P.M. Friday, March 7, 2014, in the McKee Stone Funeral Home Chapel where both Rodgers and Keith will lie in state.
