Thomas Deal Rea

Thomas Deal “Tom” Rea, 81, formerly of Ridgeway, died Monday October 10, 2011 at Morehead Memorial Hospital of Eden, NC. He was born in Henry County on January 3, 1930 to the late Toney Lester Rea and Gertrude Eggleston Rea. He was retired after twenty years of service in the Navy and had served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. After retiring he was the owner and operator of R & L Enterprises of Ridgeway and later worked for Wackenhut Security as a guard. He was a member of Morgan Ford Christian Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Annetta LaVerne Rea, one step-son, Randall Lindsey, four brothers, Eugene, John, David and Woodrow, two sisters, Virginia Emerson and Georgia Ellett.

Surviving are two step-daughters, Linda Boswell of Columbia, SC., and Patricia Lindsey, three sisters, Elizabeth “Libby” Rea Durham of Ridgeway, Ruth Rea Franklin of Martinsville and Susan Rea of Lugoff, TN., several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held 2:00p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in the chapel of Community Funeral Services with Rev. Jeff Evens and Rev. Jones Oliver officiating, interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Martinsville-Henry County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Community Funeral Services of Ridgeway.
