Alicia Duran

Alicia Durán, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 83, leaving behind a mark of love, strength, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched.

Alicia was born in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, México, on February 27, 1941, to Ramona Nieto Mendoza and Andalio Nieto. Her early years were shaped by her family’s move to Mexicali, Baja California, where her grandmother, the family matriarch, Magdalena Mendoza Zuniga, moved their family. It was here that Alicia met Robert Durán, the love of her life. Together, they moved to Los Angeles, California, where they raised their family.

Alicia was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in 2014; the tragic loss of her son, Roberto Jaime, in 2015; and her daughter, Irma, in 2020. Despite the hardship, Alicia’s strength and affection for her family stood strong.

She is survived by her son Ricardo and daughters Eugenia and Beatriz, as well as her grandchildren Veronica, Amanda, Andrew, and Nathan, and her great-grandchildren Julian and Mia. Alicia also leaves behind her loving sons-in-law, Jesse, Juan, and Jr., whom she embraced as her sons. Additionally, she is survived by many extended family members both here and in México, as well as many friends who were touched by her warmth and lifelong friendships.

In her later years, Alicia was also reunited with two stepsisters and their families, a connection she embraced with open arms.

Alicia’s life was one marked by her commitment to family, perseverance, and a lasting bond with others. She was known for her ability to make everyone feel welcomed and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her.

En Memoria Querida de Alicia Durán

Alicia Durán, querida madre, abuela, bisabuela y amiga, falleció pacíficamente a la edad de 83 años, dejando una huella de amor, fortaleza y bondad. Su familia y todas aquellas vidas que tocó la extrañarán profundamente.

Alicia nació en Mazatlán, Sinaloa, México, el 27 de Febrero de 1941 de sus padres Ramona Nieto Mendoza y Andalio Nieto. Los primeros años de Alicia fueron marcados por el traslado de su familia a Mexicali, Baja California, donde su abuela Magdalena Mendoza Zuniga, la matriarca de la familia, trasladó a la familia. Fue aquí donde Alicia conoció a Robert Durán, el amor de su vida. Juntos se mudaron a Los Ángeles, California, donde criaron a su familia.

Alicia fue precedida en la muerte por su esposo Roberto en 2014, la trágica pérdida de su hijo Roberto Jaime en 2015 y su hija Irma en 2020. A pesar de las dificultades, la fortaleza y el cariño de Alicia por su familia permanecieron firmes.

Le sobreviven su hijo Ricardo y sus hijas Eugenia y Beatriz, así como sus nietos Veronica, Amanda, Andrew y Nathan, y sus bisnietos Julian y Mia. Alicia también deja atrás a sus queridos yernos, Jesse, Juan y Jr., a quienes abrazó como hijos. Además, le sobreviven muchos miembros de la familia extendida, tanto aquí como en México, así como muchos amigos que fueron tocados por su calidez y sus amistades de toda la vida.

En sus últimos años, Alicia también se reunió con dos hermanastras y sus familias, una conexión que recibió con los brazos abiertos.

La vida de Alicia fue una vida marcada por su compromiso con la familia, la perseverancia y un vínculo duradero/relaciones profundas con los demás. Era conocida por su capacidad de hacer que todos se sintieran bienvenidos y por las innumerables maneras en que tocó las vidas de quienes la rodeaban.
