

Aubry Dick Woods, age 89, entered into rest on February 14, 2016 at home in Riverside, CA. “Dick” as he was known, was born in Lubbock, Texas on April 1, 1926. He began his 37 year career as a teacher in Gruver, Texas in 1951 teaching 7th & 8th graders and later continued in Riverside. He also served in the U.S. Army and as a private detective with Burns Detective Agency. While in Wyoming, he met and married Helen. They moved to Riverside in 1963, and were together for almost 54 years. Dick and Helen enjoyed many activities together. Dick ushered and served as a Deacon at Calvary Presbyterian Church. They were members of the DeAnza Dance Club, and shared a love of cats (9 presently). Dick joined Evergreen Masonic Lodge in 1969, was raised to Master Mason in 1970, and served numerous stations becoming Master in 1975. During that year, he presided over the groundbreaking of the current lodge on Chicago Ave. He received the prestigious Hiram Award in 2008 and became the senior Past Master in 2014. Dick also served as Worthy Patron of Ungava Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in 1977 and in 1986. He received Ungava's service award in 2000.
Services will be held at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 4495 Magnolia Ave. Riverside, CA 92501 on Monday, February 29, 2016 with Viewing at 10AM and Funeral Service at 11AM followed by a memorial reception at Evergreen Lodge, 5801 Chicago Ave. Riverside, CA 92506. He will be laid to rest at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park, 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA 92505.
