Betty Cross Rolapp, 90, passed away July 9, 2017, at
Courtyard Jamestown Assisted Living Center in Provo, Utah.
Betty was born January 31,1927 In Alliance, Ohio, the daughter of Thomas and Leola Larena Cross.
She graduated from Clairton High School in 1943 and subsequently attended nursing school in Ohio.
She was married to Edgar Thatcher Rolapp on November 8,1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. From that day forward Betty and Ed became long time residents of California, making their home there for 62 years. Betty left memories of the harsh winters in Pennsylvania, and left her immediate family three thousand miles away. However, through the years she and Ed would visit Betty's parents, her sister, and her brother.
Betty proved to be a competent and effective leader to many civic and church organizations:
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in the Young Women's presidency, teaching Primary, and being called to act as counselor in the Relief Society, and subsequently the Relief Society president.
Her civic contributions included leadership in the Girl Scouts, PTA, and later as acting president of the Desert Horizons Women's Golf Association. She was always active in politics; campaigning, and working at the polling centers during elections. Betty was a member of The Muses, the women's support group for the McCallum Center, in Palm Desert, California. In addition, she was a philanthropic supporter of the College of The Desert, and The Heart Institute in Rancho Mirage, California.
Her hobbies included gardening, a mean game of bridge, golfing, and genealogy. She was a gracious hostess and an outstanding cook.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Barbara Egbert (Sid), Lehi Utah, her son Thomas Cross Rolapp, San Juan Capistrano, California, 4 grandchildren - Jared Egbert (Catrina), Aaron Egbert, Paul Egbert (Sara) and Granddaughter Holland Rolapp; 8 great-grandchildren Josh, Caile, Jacob, Peyton, Preston,and Lexi Egbert; Grace, and Owen Egbert; her sister, Marcine Dickey, and her brother David Cross; 11 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edgar Rolapp, her parents, and three nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted
Tuesday, August 1st, 2017
11:30 a.m. at
Pierce Brothers Mortuary

A viewing will be held one hour prior (10:30) to the Chapel Service which will commence at 11:30am.
Interment will follow at the
Riverside National Cemetery
