Consuelo Figueroa Medina

Consuelo Figueroa Medina, 55, joined the Lord in Heaven on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, California after battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer. She was diagnosed on December 3, 2015. She never gave up the strong will to live, and her faith to the Lord lived with her everyday. Even through her pain, she showed her strength to all and managed to smile and crack a joke every now and then. Love and support from family and friends pushed her through everyday to fight stronger.

She was born on April 26, 1960 in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, Mexico to Jose de Jesus Figueroa Lopez and Maria Medina Landeros. She grew up in Mexicali, Mexico and completed the sixth grade in 1972. Looking for a greater future, she decided to leave her hometown and moved to California. She began to work as a cook in her late teen years in Santa Ana, specializing in Mexican food. She enjoyed shopping especially when she knew she got an item for discount! She would say "¿Adivina cuánto pagué por tres pantalones? ....pagué $3! Me los chinge! Y ellos querían que pagara más pero no soy mensa!" She was the type of woman who loved to save money and would get excited about it and would not spend more than $5 on a single item, a huge bargain shopper.

She also enjoyed social gatherings, joking around, eating delicious food, helping others and spending time with her family. If people tried to tell her anything rude or make the joke towards her, she was known to clown on them with a good comeback. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She would always make sure she celebrated all of her grandchildren's birthdays even when the celebration was small. Her wisdom, love, strength, memories, and faith are spread with everyone she knew for years and even to those she only knew for a day. She was a phenomenal woman that left an imprint on people's lives. She would tell us, "Don't cry for me, be strong. I will always be by your side watching you."

Consuelo Figueroa Medina married Rogelio Lopez Torres in 1996 in Riverside, California. They were happily married for 7 years and since 2010 to her last day she spent it with her significant other Manuel Bravo Tapia.

Consuelo was preceded in death by her father Jose De Jesus Figueroa Lopez and mother Maria Medina Landeros and is survived by her ex-spouse Rogelio Lopez Torres and her significant other Manuel Bravo Tapia, her loving son Roger Lopez Figueroa (Nereida Figueroa), her loving daughters, Maria Edith Sequeira (Jairo Jose Sequeira), Sissy Lopez (Eric Villalpando), Kelsey Arleen Lopez (Andres Ramirez), her youngest daughter Yurisa Lopez; her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Genevie Lanette Serrato, Mateo Prado, Jorge Ruben Prado, Roger Angel Lopez, Eden Villalpando, Nathan Ramirez, and Chewy Lopez, her furry child, the family dog.

The rosary and viewing to celebrate her life will be held on March 10, 2016 from 5pm -8pm at Pierce Brothers-Crestlawn Mortuary at 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA 92505. The mass will be held at St. Mel Roman Catholic Church, 4140 Corona Ave, Norco, CA 92860 on March 11, 2016 at 1pm - 2pm. The burial will follow at Pierce Brothers-Crestlawn Mortuary from 2:30pm - 3:30pm on March 11, 2016. The gathering after the burial will be held at 6217 Mitchell Ave, Riverside, CA 92505.
