Daryl was born in Arkansas City, Kansas in 1927, she moved to Riverside more than 50 years ago with her police officer husband where they raised their family. She worked as a legal stenographer with the district attorney’s office until retirement in 1989, and volunteered as an ombudsman at nursing homes.
Daryl has loved the lord all of her life. She is also loved by everyone who knew her. She became active in every church she attended, especially Magnolia Avenue Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school both children’s ministry and older adults. She helped for years with counting Sunday’s offerings and tithes.
She loved to read, spend time with her family and pets, crossword puzzles, listen to music, garden, and paint. Her favorite book was Jane Eyre and her favorite movie was Fiddler on the Roof, both of which spoke about the teachings of God and their importance in the lives of the characters. She had a kind and giving nature and was a brilliant storyteller. She always knew how to make people feel better when they were down, whether by giving advice and kind words, or simply holding your hand and being there. She loved her family wholeheartedly and fiercely, and will be very missed by all who knew her.
The last few years of her life, she moved near her family in Hesperia where she could spend special time with them during her final years on earth.
