EDNA FLORIDA COTE, 74, died June 15, 2017, following a 3 year battle with ovarian cancer. Edna was born January 18, 1943 in Providence RI. At age 5, she and her parents moved to San Bernardino CA. She graduated in 1960 from Redlands High School, graduated Skadron College of Business in 1962, majoring in Business Administration, and later became a bookkeeper for various companies, including the fast food restaurant Bakers. In 1968, she married the late Jerome E. Cote and became a full-time homemaker. Jerome was a self-employed plastering contractor and Edna did all of the bookkeeping for his business. Soon after they married, Jerome and Edna saved the life of a little girl by adopting her. Edna was the toughest, most wonderful mom anyone could ever ask for.
Edna was involved in many activities throughout her life such as Girl Scouts, 4-H, various square dance & round dance clubs, playing cards and dominoes, making rosaries for St. Jude’s Wire Benders at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Riverside, attending a small faith group in Riverside, and most recently, attending a women’s prayer group in Corona. She was also a volunteer IRS tax preparer sponsored by AARP for over 10 years.
Edna will be greatly missed by her daughter, Thelma, son-in-law, Larry, and granddaughter, Destiney. Edna loved animals and until last year, loved and took care of her 2 cats, Missy and Socks until their passing. She also loved and spoiled her 3 grand-doggies Friar, Harley and Ziggy.
We wish to express our deepest gratitude to everyone at Vitas Hospice who cared for Edna since November 2016, especially Registered Nurse Joanne C., Certified Home Health Aide Blanca A., and Chaplain Brad D., and the Eucharistic Ministers at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Corona. We are forever grateful for the wonderful care and compassion you all showed her and us.
In lieu of flowers, Edna requests donations made to the American Cancer Society.
Rosary and Service will be held at 10:30a.m., July 8, 2017 at Acheson and Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary in Riverside CA, followed by graveside burial at 2:00p.m. at Montecito Memorial Park in Loma Linda CA.
