Enrique Gutierrez

He was born on 04.21.1939, in Praga, Huila, Colombia to Rosa and Jesus Maria Gutierrez. Third born male of thirteen children. An accountant by profession and the Patriarch of the Gutierrez family. Our father was an extraordinary man who possessed the most remarkable characteristics, all of which contributed to making him a magnificent man. He was generous and considerate of others. A genuine person, and father that we could always count on to provide us with the most honest and unconditional love we could possibly receive. To be at the receiving end of his love was an honor and a privilege. Hard work, focus, and dedication were virtues he taught us as well, since these had brought him success in his life. He knew how to lead by example and it is something our family and extended family admire tremendously. There are different definitions of success, and to us our father embodies the ultimate success story of an immigrant who made a home for his children, raised a family that remains loving and united, and he lived a full and truly amazing life full of pure love.

He was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer on March 7th, 2010. We are extremely grateful to God for giving us the opportunity to spend a year, three months, and ten days with our adored father, building even more wonderful memories and cherishing the gift that was every single day, hour and minute. As his children, we intend to continue to live our lives with the love, integrity, principles and morals that he instilled in us. He was admired by so many, truly a pillar of strength and endurance, reminiscent of a Roble Tree, also known as a Grand Oak.

Survived by: Four children~ Carlos (Martha), Ximena (William) Pena, Francisco and Yvette (Jesse) Rivera. Four grandchildren~ Isabella Pena, Cathleen Pena, Joseph Gutierrez and Sebastian Gutierrez. Seven brothers and sisters ~ Jesus Maria, Jorge, Gloria, Hector, Guillermo, Yezid and Mario Gutierrez
