

Erwin Louis Zschusschen was born November 22, 1922 to Johan Gustaaf Zschusschen and Wilhelmina Louise Carolina deVlugt in Paramaribo, Suriname, South America. He was the youngest of eight children. All preceded him in death.
In 1943, Erwin joined the Royal Netherlands Navy. In November 1944 while on leave he met Evelyn Williams. Erwin and Evelyn were united in holy matrimony on February 3, 1945. Upon discharge from the military, Erwin and Evelyn moved to Manhattan, New York. From this union was born one daughter, Phyllis M. Zschusschen-Porter. Erwin and family moved to Santa Monica, CA, in 1960. They relocated to Hemet, CA in 1990. Evelyn preceded him in death in 1995.
Erwin was a tailor by trade and worked in the sheet metal industry for over 40 years. He retired in 1990.
Erwin loved music, square dancing, and electronics.
Erwin is survived by his daughter, Phyllis M. Zschusschen-Porter. Son-in-law Calvin Porter, three grandchildren, Denyse M. Hurd, Dane A. Hurd I, and Coquist S. Porter, six great grandchildren, Kirsten A. Sanguillen, Dane A. Hurd II, Dayna B. Hurd, Nicholas Hurd, Ryan C. Melton, Connor E. Melton, two great great grandchildren, Christen J. Samuel, Serenity S. Sum, two very close friends, Sharon A. Catlett and Theo Klinkenberg and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of loving relatives and friends. A very special thanks to his caregivers, Sheila Wilkins and Danny Jones.
