Garland Anthony Tapp age 74 of Rialto CA went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Anthony often known to many of us as “Tony” was born in Richmond, Indiana on April 28, 1950, to his parents, Billy Oliver Tapp and Mary Margaret (Hall)Tapp. He was the third of nine children. Three of his siblings preceded him in death: Ray Edward Tapp, Bari Otis Tapp, and Tonya Kinto Jackson.
Anthony grew up in Richmond, Indiana and graduated from Richmond Senior High School. He enjoyed sports, playing basketball and football in junior high and high school. His love for fishing began at an early age when he accompanied his paternal grandfather, Bronston Leavell, with trips to Richmond Reservoir where they would fish for hours. It was his paternal grandmother, Dollie Leavell, who taught him how to clean and fillet fish.
March 3, 1979, Anthony was joined in holy matrimony to his wife, Dolores Ann Tapp. They were married for over 30 years and in 2011 she preceded him in death. They were blessed to become the proud parents of two sons, Stuart Tapp and William Tapp. Anthony was a hard worker. Often he would say “work first play later” as that was his motto! He worked for International Paper for close to 30 years retiring as a Senior Electrician.
Anthony was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost in his youth and worshiped with his family at Christ Tabernacle Church under the spiritual guidance of Elder Bracy Ledford. He later became a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Richmond under Elder Irwin Baxter, Jr. In California, Anthony became a member of Inland Lighthouse Church under the ministerial guidance of Bishop Larry L. Booker and Pastor Joel M. Booker. After many years Anthony, a.k.a. Tony met Marie Galloway and was given a second chance for love and they were married June 3, 2023.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Marie Galloway-Tapp, his sons Stuart Tapp and William Tapp, his granddaughter Elaina Ann Marie Tapp and her mother Monique Herrera, his grandson William Antonio Tapp all from Rialto Ca, his sisters Marcia Tapp-Sanders, Fort Wayne, IN and Doplia Tapp, Richmond, IN; his brothers Don Tapp, Bloomington, IN, Paul Tapp, Richmond, IN, and Eric Tapp, Henderson NV; his aunts Bessie Hogg, Richmond, IN and Thelma Hall, Las Vegas, NV; his uncle David Hogg, Richmond, IN, his sister-in-law Elaine Teague, Riverside, CA, brother-in-law Tyrone Sanders, Fort Wayne, IN as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church family and friends.
