Gene Akers

He attended the University of Nebraska and Riverside City College, where he met his wife, Dorothy Elizabeth "Betsy" Ferraro. From that point on, he dedicated his life to caring for her until her death in 2019 and to his faith and family.

He is survived by his three children: Kirsten (Matthew) Dhillon, Matthew (Heather) Akers, and David (Tara) Akers; nine grandchildren: Koryn Akers, Adam, Luke, Isabel, Paul, Clara, and Gemma Dhillon, and Aubyrnne and Amberlynne Akers; siblings: Jerry (Pat) Akers, Dana (Joe) Figirlyong, Alane (Charles) West, and Marsha Alfaro; and the brothers and sisters of his Neocatechumenate Community with whom he shared his life for over 40 years.

A visitation and rosary service for ORLAND will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92504.

A funeral service will occur Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 3074 Madison St, Riverside, CA 92504.

A graveside service will occur Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Olivewood Memorial Park, 3300 Central Ave, Riverside, CA 92506.

Reception to follow at the Akers home in Riverside.
