Gonzalo was born in Juarez, Mexico. His family had moved to El Paso Texas and had later relocated to sunny Riverside, California when he was a child. He started his bartending career at the Mission Inn Hotel and Restaurant. It was when he met Cecilia, he had found the love of his life and they married in 1965. He loved to travel with his family back to Texas every summer and stay at the Travel Lodge where he taught his daughters to swim and dive for coins in the hotel pool. He made sure to show us the beauty of California from the ocean to the mountains. Gonzalo loved to watch western films starring John Wayne. He was an avid golfer and loved to spend time on the course as well as watching golf tournaments on television. A proud father and grandpa, he loved his grandchildren that he raised, supported or just sat at a pool deck with for a swim meet or water polo game. His favorite thing to do was hang with his family for 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, sing a “monkey lips” birthday song or for a Rams football game!! He could go anywhere and make friends and was beloved by everyone who met him. We will miss Gonzalo, Eddie, Jim, husband, daddy, father-in-law, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.
