Irene shared membership along with her husband in the Optimist Club for many years, was an active member of the Red Hatter Society, and held leadership roles within Girl Scouting for several years while her girls were growing up.
She was an avid baker and dessert maker, her family and many of her friends have benefited (or not) through the years, receiving her fabulous cake creations and desserts; in fact Irene took cake decorating classes at one point in time. Irene also enjoyed scrapbooking and square dancing.
She attended L.A. Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California for some classes, as well as received a Certificate of Completion Award for Postal Exam Training.
Her joyful personality and laughter was contagious and she had the ability to find spirituality and happiness in most situations. Irene was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she loved each of them unconditionally.
She is survived by her four children, Judy & (Greg) Lewsadder of Queen Creek, Arizona, Peggy Cooper of Temecula, California, Vickey & (Tom) Duenkel of Phoenix, Arizona and Roger & (Kristie) Cooper of Canyon Country, California; her grandchildren include Matthew, Jacki, Shelby, Darren, April and L.J. and her great-grandchildren Blake and Julian.
Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Vernon Cooper on January 5, 2005 and all of her Olea brothers and sisters; Irene (aka-Ruby) was their youngest sister.
For those who wish to, a memorial contribution can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
