James Miley ( Pete) passed away on July 13, 2023 from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease at the age of 87. He never complained, even while he was battling this sad disease. James was born on June 2, 1936 in Allison Park, Pennsylvania. His parents were George and Luella Miley, and James was one of eight children. He served as a medic in the Army from 1954-1957. After moving to California in 1962, his first job there was at General Steel and Wire for 12.5 years. Following that he worked as a truck driver at Stater Bros. for 38 years, loving his job and the lifelong friends he made there. He was a simple man who was all about giving and helping others. He loved hearing about how you were doing and what was happening in your life. James had a great love of all kinds of music and dancing, along with teaching Ballroom and disco classes. He deeply loved his family. A man of all trades, he could fix or build almost anything which he happily did for anyone that asked. Included in some of his many projects were a beautiful playhouse for the grandkids, and a bed with large drawers under it for his grandson. All were built with love. Vintage cars were his passion, and he enjoyed bringing them back to life and making them beautiful again.
He will be sorely missed because he was a large part of so many lives. He made a difference wherever he went. James was married for 19 years to Joyce Miley. He is survived by a daughter Cindy Miley. His step children Brent (Vicky) Sheffler, Sally (Tom) Bahler, Jay Sheffler, James (Bobbi) Sheffler, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
