

Juanita Armas Serna, born June 12, 1927, in Zacatecas, Mexico, passed away on March 16, 2026, at 11:20 a.m., at the age of 98. A beloved, devoted, faithful, honest, cherished, generous, resilient, thoughtful, wise, hard-working, compassionate, and brave woman, Juanita will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude by all who were blessed to know her. She was a resident of Corona, California.
Born in Zacatecas, Mexico, Juanita lived in El Cardo, Zacatecas, Mexico, where she was always working at home. With admirable determination, she learned how to read and write in adulthood—an achievement that reflected her resilient spirit and lifelong willingness to grow.
Juanita married at 19 years old to Jose Refugio Serna. Together they built a family rooted in love, sacrifice, and steadfast care. She was always taking care of all her children, and her life’s work was her family—nurturing, guiding, and providing with a generous heart and a steady hand.
Juanita was the mother of thirteen children. Surviving are Monica Serna, Maria del Rosario Serna, Jose Serna, Agustina Rodriguez Serna, Maria del Carmen Serna, Maria Serna, Jerry Neice, Sofia Serna, Juan Serna, Alberto Serna, Alfredo Serna, and Refugio Serna. She was preceded in death by Ascencion Serna. She is also lovingly remembered by 52 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
A true lover of the ranch lifestyle, Juanita found joy in collecting rooster and cow figurines, and she was happiest when she was staying busy. She expressed her love in the daily, faithful ways that mattered most—caring for her family, making breakfast, and tending to the needs of those around her with thoughtful devotion.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. Juanita prayed the daily rosary and attended Catholic Mass every Sunday. She was known for blessing others with the words, “Que te vaya bien,” a simple phrase that carried her sincere hope, kindness, and compassion wherever she went.
A visitation will be held at Acheson & Graham Garden of Prayer Mortuary, 7944 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA 92504, on March 24, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A Resurrection Mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Roman Catholic Church, 8540 Weirick Rd, Corona, CA 92883, on March 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
A Committal Service will be held at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park, 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA 92505, on March 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
