Laura was born and raised in Virginia where the family grew tobacco and raised chickens. She moved to Pittsburgh, PA after high school where she lived with her sisters. Soon after that, she moved to California with her sister Ella. She met and married Leo Humphrey and had three children. She worked in the garment industry as a seamstress for decades. She later ran her own cleaning service. Unfortunately, once covid surfaced, she semi retired and started creating purses and working the farmers markets.
Laura is preceded in death by her Father, John Mitchell, Mother, Sally Mitchell, two Brothers Earl Mitchell and BW Mitchell and two Sisters, Joan Mitchell and Ella Mitchell. Laura is survived by two Brothers, Donald Mitchell and Daryl Mitchell, Son, Jemil Humphrey, Daughters, Desiree Humphrey and Bianca Humphrey, Daughter-in- Law, Yolanda Zeigler-Humphrey, Step-Daughter Sharon Reese McGlory and Carla Jackson. She is survived by her Grandchildren, Kayla Humphrey, Derrick Harris, DeQuan Guillebeau, Delano Beeks and Dwight Jenkins Jr. and a hosts of family and friends.
