A long time resident of Riverside for 60 years Lucille Genevieve Swain 93 years young has gone to be reunited with her husband, Robert of 48 years and son, John, her parents, three sisters and three brothers. She was born February 27, 1925 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to George and Kathryn Meyers.
She is survived by her four daughters Bobbi Meyer of Riverside, Jolene Kelly and husband Don of Riverside, Patti Hengstebeck and husband Mike of Oxnard, Joyce Dyer and husband Glenn of Victorville. Also survived by two Granddaughters and five Grandsons, six Great Granddaughters, four Great Grandsons and three Great Great Granddaughters. While all five children were in school she took a part-time job in the Linen Department at Harris' Department Store in the Riverside Plaza. She worked there for 19 years and was always home to prepare the evening meal and help with homework. She had Doctor Catherine Larson(Retired) as her primary physician at Riverside Medical Center for 50+ years and adored her. After surgery for a broken hip from a fall May 30, 2018 she received rehabilitation at Ballard Rehabilitation Hospital in San Bernardino and then transferred closer to home to Arlington Gardens Care Center here in Riverside. She had previously fought a battle and survived Colon Cancer but unfortunately she encountered several setbacks and became too fatigued and fragile to continue with this battle.
We want to thank the staff at Ballard and especially Arlington Gardens for the months of encouragement and loving care from the Doctors, Nurses and CNAs. Also the nurses at Riverside Community Hospital for always making sure she was comfortable for her final journey.
She will always be loved and forever in our hearts.
