Phyllis Lavon Gwin

Phyllis Lavon Gwin, age 77, of Menifee, California, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta, surrounded by her loving husband and all four of her children.

Phyllis was born on July 13th, 1947, in Otaka, Oklahoma, to Armon and Marie Cope. She was the fourth of eleven children and spent her early years in Sheridan and Vacaville, California. Her upbringing in a large, close-knit family instilled in her a deep love for connection and faith. Phyllis is survived by her devoted husband of 20 years, Steve, who stood by her side as her unwavering partner. She leaves behind her four children, Danny, Michelle, Rick, and Brandon, who carry forward her legacy of love and faith. Phyllis was a proud grandmother to twelve grandchildren and six step-grandchildren, and a great-grandmother to six, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride. She was preceded in death by her parents and six of her siblings, who no doubt welcomed her into heaven with open arms.

Phyllis’s greatest love was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She dedicated her life to sharing His word and loved singing hymns of praise. She cherished every moment spent with her family, finding her greatest happiness in their laughter, love, and games. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is in the presence of her Savior. Phyllis’s gentle spirit, strong faith, and enduring love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service for Phyllis will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Mortuary, 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA 92505. A committal service will occur Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA 92505. A reception will occur Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, 11500 Arlington Ave, Riverside, CA 92505.
