

Rubio Antonio Avila Jr., 24, of Huntington Beach, California passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019. Rubio worked in information technology at a manufacturing firm in Wilmington. He was also a professional videographer and photographer as well as driver on the Pro-Am drift series racing circuit and had traveled both domestically and internationally participating in the sport. In Rubio’s spare time he also enjoyed playing X-Box Live as a member of a regular team. Everyone that knew Rubio was a friend. Rubio was well known not only for his amazing hugs and his infectious smile but also his distinctive laugh. Rubio had compassion and love for others. No-one was ever a stranger to Rubio because he befriended you on the spot.
Survivors include his parents, Melanie (Jim) Abrams and Rubio (Sandy) Avila Sr.; brothers Johnathan (Asle) Abrams, Joshua (Samantha) Abrams, and Angelo (Valerie) Fierro Jr.; sisters Desiree and Deanna Abrams; maternal grandmother Barbara Fenneman; maternal aunt Kimberly (Jeffrey) Randall; paternal uncles Genaro (Dani) Avila, Johnny (Jennifer) Avila, Tony (Lisa) Avila, and Carlos Avila; cousins Genaro Avila Jr., Roseanne Johnson, Evonne Noriega, Anthony Avila, Melissa Avila, Jacob Avila, Rachel Randall, Brandon Avila, Lucas Avila and Cayden Avila. Rubio is pre-deceased by his maternal grandfather Edward Fenneman; paternal grandparents Fred and Barbara Avila; cousin Corey A. Randall. A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Mortuary in Riverside, California with the Ysidro Rodriguez officiating. A second memorial service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019, at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home in Merced, California with interment immediately following the ceremony; the time for the second service has yet to be determined.
