Suzanne Katherine Edwards was born, July 23rd 1936 to Dom and Gertrude Martino and sister to Nancy and Trudy. Suzanne was the widow of Avan Edwards. Adored mother to Ronald Edwards, Katherine Edwards, and Terry and Cindy Edwards. Grandmother to Taire, Travis, Kyle, and Jared.
She lived in the Panama Canal Zone through World War II while her father worked on the canal locks, traveled to Massachusetts for a chilly winter and her family settled in sunny Arizona where she attended Arizona State College in Flagstaff and Phoenix College. Suzanne served as a Past Worthy Advisor, and Past Mother Advisor for the Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She was also dedicated to the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, and the Order of the Eastern Star, having celebrated over 50 years with each organization.
She met the love of her life in Arizona which was just the beginning of an ambitious, trail blazing adventure. Avan and Suzanne married in 1957 and together took great pride in entrepreneurship, owning Bridal World dress shop, J & L Carpet, and The Red Barn bar. When Suzanne was not planning and hosting gatherings for family and friends, she could often be found 50 cards deep in a bingo hall.
Suzanne ensured her children and grandchildren were always involved in activities and opportunities and equally as anxious to know they were safe doing them. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and many acts of selflessness.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Edwards, Terry and Cindy Edwards, and grandchildren Taire and Travis Heffelfinger, and Kyle and Jared Edwards.
