

Theodore Wesley Huling was born on June 4, 1951 in Columbus, Georgia. He was the first of three children born to Booker and Georgia Huling. The family moved to Riverside, CA in 1958 when his father was transferred from Hunter Air Force Base in Savannah, GA to March Air Force Base. They soon united with Second Baptist Church where Ted was baptized under the pastorate under late Reverend William Thomas.
Ted graduated from North High School in 1968. He attended the University of California, Riverside where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, his Teaching Credential, and a Master’s Degree in Education.
After a brief time in retail, Ted began his career in the field of education. He became a teacher for the Corona – Norco Unified School District. Ted later served as a Mentor Teacher, Vice – Principal, and Principal at various schools before retiring from the Los Angeles Unified School District. Ted also worked with the UCR Alumni Association to provide scholarships for students.
Ted enjoyed good food, music, movies, and the theater, but what he loved the most was travel. Ted would travel any chance that he could. He traveled to many of the major cities in the United States as well as going abroad to China, South Africa, Spain, and France. Ted’s favorite spot in the world, though, was London, England, where he made numerous friends. He would head to London several times a year just to visit friends, take in the theater, and see the sights.
Ted became disabled after a near fatal car accident in 2010 and had numerous subsequent health challenges.
Ted passed away in Riverside, CA, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. He is preceded in death by his father, Booker T. Huling and his brother, Harold Huling. Ted leaves behind his mother, Georgia, his sister, Harriet, his brother-in-law, Dennis, his sister-in-law, Diane, several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Ted always did his very best at whatever the task and encouraged others to do the same. He will be missed.
