Tommie Alice Downs

b. 1931 Tennessee d. 6/13/16 Riverside, CA

Tommie was a beauty! She will be remembered for her style, determination, infectious laugh, love of family, and her occasionally annoying enthusiasm for genealogy. She was an amazing hairdresser for over 50 years, working until she was 84! Born in Tennessee, she moved to Michigan as a teenager where she met her husband of 23 years, Art Downs.

Tommie is survived by her two daughters: Susan Olsen of Junction City, CA and Pamela Downs of Sacramento, CA and also a sister, Dana Spencer of Waterford Township, MI. She was also loving grandmother to Rob McNeal of Weaverville, CA, Tamera Martin of Parker, CO, and Tim McNeal of Junction City, CA. Tommie also had five great-grandchildren: Katie, Kelly, Connor, Shane, and Keira. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Bill Wilbanks last year and her beloved grandson Andy Downs Hoover in 2008. She made the world a more beautiful place and she will be missed by all who loved her.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 22 at 11am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 11150 Collett Av., Riverside CA. Internment will follow at Pierce Brothers-Crestlawn Cemetery at 11500 Arlington Av., Riverside CA, 92505.
