Virginia Lou Brawner

Virginia Lou Brawner of Riverside, CA, age 90, passed away on January 3, 2023 after several years of declining health. She was born in Cozad, Nebraska on June 10, 1932 to George and Rose Schurr. Virginia married her husband, Ora Lewis Brawner (O.L.) on May 25, 1952. They moved to Riverside, California in 1955. Virginia started her career as a teacher in Gibbon, Nebraska, but spent the majority of her working years as one of Riverside Unified’s first women administrators. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Virginia was a remarkable woman with many talents, interests, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rose and George Schurr; husband, O.L.; her sister, Marjorie Wilson; and many faithful canine and feline companions. She is survived and sorely missed by her daughters, Rebecca Brawner and Deborah Bruns (husband Jeff); granddaughter, Brittany Sanfilippo (husband Nick); great granddaughter, Rosalie Sanfilippo; brother, George Schurr (wife Sandy); nieces, nephews, and precious friends. A service honoring her life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on February 10, 2023 at Acheson and Graham Mortuary in Riverside, CA. A celebration will follow at the Bruns’s home.
