With love and gratitude for a life filled with faith, service, and devotion, we share that on Sunday, June 1, 2025, William Brent Pendleton passed away peacefully in his home in Riverside, California, at the age of 77.
Brent was born on November 28, 1947, in Logan, Utah, as the eldest son of William Richard and Evelyn Hofler. Brent graduated from Kent-Meridian High School in 1966. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed playing sports. He served in the Mexican Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1967 to 1969, an experience that deepened his lifelong commitment to faith and service.
On December 18, 1969, he was sealed to his sweetheart Jeanne Van Blankenstein for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they built a strong and loving family, raising six children: Marc (Cindy), Kristi (Scott) Phillips, Kevin (Cindy), Wendi, Sheri (John) Salazar, and David (Amber). He enjoyed participating in their activities, often coaching and cheering them on in their various sports.
Brent received a bachelor's degree in Business Management from Brigham Young University and an MBA from the University of Utah.
As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brent faithfully served in many callings throughout his life. One of his most cherished roles was serving as Bishop of the Scranton Pennsylvania Ward, where his steady leadership, and deep dedication touched many lives. He especially enjoyed helping the youth and loved watching them grow and progress into successful adults.
Throughout his life, Brent had a strong work ethic and taught his children to work hard. He worked in the housing industry for 35 years, retiring in 2011 as the Director of Materials for Fleetwood Homes in Riverside, CA.
In his free time, Brent enjoyed spending time with family, sharing “dad jokes”, working on family history, and watching sports (especially BYU). Brent was an avid reader and a lifetime learner. He was known for his warm smile, quick wit, and his ability to make everyone feel like he believed in them. His grandchildren especially enjoyed receiving jokes from him every day. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will carry forward his legacy of faith, perseverance, and kindness.
Brent is survived by his beloved wife, Jeanne, their five living children, 18 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Kent (Linda), Brian (Kay), Jolyn (Jim) Goldade, and Robert (Tawni) Pendleton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Marinus and Jeanne Van Blankenstein; son, Marc; and son-in-law, John Salazar.
We rejoice in the knowledge that families are forever and look forward to the day we will be reunited with him again. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of faith, charity, and humor will forever be cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
The funeral service will take place at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 16930 Via Los Caballeros, Riverside, CA 92504 on July 1, 2025, at 10:00 am with a visitation prior at 9:00 am. A private burial service will be held at Hillside Memorial Park in Redlands, CA.
The family expresses appreciation to Tranquil Oaks Hospice and Akahina Home Care for their kind and compassionate care.
