Carla Rae Downs Francis

As a young child, Carla moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended South High, graduated in 1958, and formed friendships (clubs) which have lasted through the years. At age 11 she met her "blue eyed sweetheart", Marvin Francis, whom she later married in the Salt Lake Temple, February 13, 1959.

After retirement, she enjoyed her time as a crossing guard for West Valley City. She was dedicated and did not miss a day, even during chemo. As a devoted member of the LDS church, Carla served and enjoyed various callings over the years. She especially valued the time she spent working in the Jordan River Temple baptistery for over eight years.

Carla is survived by her husband, Marvin Francis; children, Kevin (Jennifer) Francis, Michael (Jeri) Francis, Sherri (Matthew) Meredith, Jackie Francis, Jeannette (Greg) Pay, Diana Francis; 12 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren on the way.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Neva; father, Elvin; brother, Jay and son-in-law Greg.

The viewing and funeral services will be held Friday, November 25 at the Jordan North 6th Ward, 3836 West 4100 South, (enter on Hawkeye Drive) The viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the funeral service starting at 1:00 p.m.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of her caregivers over the last year.
