On December 17, 2021, our dear, sweet mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and sister, Edith Lucille VanPatten Bowcutt finished her trial here on earth while surrounded by family, and was reunited with her eternal sweetheart, Bill. She is survived by her sister, Pauline, children: Dave, Jay (Brenda), Doug, Sally (Roy), Beckie (Jack), 18 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Edith was born to Carlisle and Clarice VanPatten on September 8, 1929 in Springville, Utah. She was the middle child, having two older sisters, Pauline and Shirley, a younger sister and brother, June and Frank. She was raised in and attended school in Springville, where she learned to be a hard worker and was a good student. She loved to read and learn. She met Bill when his cousin brought him to her home on one of his visits. They were later married in Reno, Nevada on June 2, 1946, and sealed in the Salt Lake City temple one year later.
For most of their married life they lived in Kearns, Utah. She held many positions in her ward there, a few of them being Cub Scout leader, Relief Society President, and Primary teacher. She was also a temple ordinance worker along with her husband. The family loved to go camping, and rock hunting with her parents. She worked alongside her husband growing beautiful flowers and vegetables in their yard. Edith enjoyed sewing, crochet, crossword puzzles, cooking, and keeping an immaculately clean but welcoming home. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend to all she met.
Her life will be celebrated by her family in a gathering for her funeral on December 28, 2021, after which she will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Wasatch Lawn Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah.
