Grand Avenue in Glendora, CA, 91740. She is survived by her children, Vern (Edith), Ramon and Lisa (Randy), along with 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Gloria’s living siblings are Eddie & Roland Mares, with Eddie being the oldest at 100 years old!!! Gloria, was also affectionately known as: Ma, Mom, Mama, Mamacita, Grandma, Grandma Gloria, Sis, Baby Sister, "Glo", Auntie "Glo", and Auntie Gloria.
She was born on November 28, 1934, at General Hospital, in Los Angeles, CA. to Joseph and Theresa Nicosia Mares. Gloria's mother, Theresa passed away when she was just 15 months old. She was raised in her younger years by Foster Parents, Henry B. and Kathyrn Claflin, whom she loved dearly. Gloria grew up to be a very independent and successful wife and mother. She had a great passion for dance, music and the musicals (Stage and Movies) of her time. She spent most of her youthful years in San Diego, CA. Then she returned to live with her Father, Joseph and his wife Evelyn who resided in Sacramento, where she graduated from C. K. McClatchy Senior High School. The family later relocated to Los Angeles, CA. Gloria worked the majority of her life as a Senior Clerk Typist at the LADWP (Los Angeles Department of Water & Power), for 37 years and 4 months, where she was well liked and respected. During her leisure time, she really enjoyed working in her backyard garden. She always enjoyed the yearly holidays & birthday gatherings with family and friends. She also loved dogs, with her last and favorite dog being "Shadow". When Gloria wasn’t enjoying her garden, you would find her and Shadow together in her living room side by side watching her favorite TV programs, sharing her favorite bag of “Lays Ruffle Potato Chips, bean dip & a Diet Coke!” Shadow would enjoy the chips as well. To all her family and friends, she was loved deeply, admired, and thought of as one of the kindest people you could ever meet! One thing is certain, Gloria always opened her heart and her home to her immediate family, neighbors, kids in the neighborhood and friends over the many years of her wonderful life, she will be deeply missed by her family and friends..."
