

Richard “Rick” Leland Giggey beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend passed away on November 13, 2025 after his courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
Rick was born December 12, 1948 in Roosevelt, Utah. He was the fifth child born to Elmer Adelbert Giggey and Betty Marie Grove. He grew up in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. He graduated from East High School in 1967.
Rick was a natural athlete and excelled in baseball, basketball and tennis as a youth in which he continued to play as an adult. He honorably served his country from 1968-1974 in the US Army.
Rick married Sharon Middlesworth August 17, 1973. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City temple on October 17, 1981. They were blessed with four children.
Rick was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in many different callings throughout his life. One of his favorites was being a primary teacher where he was affectionately known as “The Candy Man.”
Rick will be remembered for many things, especially his unmistakable white hair and twinkling blue eyes. His easy-going personality and big heart made him a favorite to all who met him. He loved showing friends, family and strangers alike his card and magic tricks which earned him the name of “Tricky Ricky.”
Rick and Sharon loved traveling and seeing different parts of the world. They especially loved traveling to Hawaii where they visited many times with family and friends and created lasting memories.
Rick’s greatest joy was his family. He was so proud of each family member and loved spending time with them.
Rick enjoyed the simple things in life; Dr. Pepper, going out to dinner and the movies, playing cards and games with family and friends, watching football & basketball games on TV, traveling, Disney’s Tangled movie, watching his grandchildren participate in sports and band. His favorite thing was to spend time with his family.
Rick is survived by his wife of 52 years Sharon, sons Chad (Maren) Giggey and Todd Giggey, daughters ShaRee (Matt) Allred and Jamie (Kevin) Hokanson. Eight adoring grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Many extended family members and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dennis and Ronald and sisters Sandra, Linda and Renae.
All services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 6710 West 4145 South West Valley City, Utah 84128. A viewing will take place Wednesday November 19, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, and again on Thursday November 20, 2025 from 9:00 to 9:45 AM. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 AM. Interment with Military Honors will be at Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Utah.
