Shauna was forever a feminine, beautiful, vigilant warrior. She fought the debilitating ravages of multiple sclerosis since her early 20s. As the incurable MS progressed she was adaptable and persevered with her sharp wit and a quick sense of humor. Though she had a solid foundation of right and wrong, she loved to question authority and was never going to let anyone tell her what to do. Always in the pursuit of learning, Shauna taught herself to sew, crochet, and make jewelry among many other things. She was constantly crafting charming treasures for family, neighbors, and friends.
Shauna was born June 8, 1949 in Salt Lake City, UT to David Edward Thomas and Florence Wade Thomas. Her oldest sister, Shirley Thomas Heath (deceased) and her husband, LaMont Heath (deceased) played a primary role in raising Shauna and her younger sister, JoLynne Thomas Olsen, (husband Kent Olson), with their three daughters (Cheryl Heath, Judy Davis, and Jill Patton). She also had an older brother, David John Thomas (deceased), (sister-in-law Yvonne Thomas).
In 1967 Shauna married Stephen Rex Rodeback (deceased) and went on to have three daughters, (Tiffany Nelson, Vanessa Zito, and Heidi Carver), then divorced in 1987. Shauna treasured being a mother and was diligent in providing opportunities, always encouraging them to follow their aspirations. She was forever very proud of her daughters.
In 1992 Shauna met and married Kent Zwahlen who she would often refer to as “my hero”. Dedicated and vigilant, Kent delivered increased attention to her needs for 32 years and attended lovingly through her last days. As a family, we are thankful and in awe of his love and devotion.
Shauna is survived by husband, Kent Zwahlen; daughters, Tiffany Nelson, Vanessa (Tony) Zito, Heidi (Eric) Carver; step-children, Wendy (Brent) Barlow, Matthew Zwahlen, Kacie Zwahlen; 20 grandkids; 12 great grandkids; sister, Jolynne (Kent) Olsen. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Dave and Florence Thomas; sister, Shirley (LaMont) Heath; brother, David John Thomas; and beloved friend, Jan Morgan.
