Alta Louise Lyon

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, in the Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens.

Alta was born on Oct. 7, 1913, in Guttenberg, Iowa, the daughter of Frank Maxwell Morrill and Wilhelmine Emile Sophia Reyer Morrill. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1932, and married William Haywood Lyon on Oct. 7, 1938.

She leaves two children, Rolland Terry (Marilyn) Lyon and Bruce (Charlene) Lyon; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Over her 103 years she saw many changes like the automobile replacing the horse, the gas or electric stoves replacing wood burners, coal furnaces replaced by natural gas and washboards replaced by washing machines.

Mrs. Lyon made fine ceramic pieces that won many awards and had landscaped her yard with many flowers. She was also a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.

Her family and friends will miss her, but she will always be remembered.
