Argus Lee Leon Bunch

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, December 15th, at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Funeral services will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery on Arsenal Island with military honors bestowed by American Legion Posts 569 and 200 and VFW Post 1303. Memorials may be made to the family.

Lee was born on August 27, 1934 in Rock Island, the son of Argus W. and Melvedene (Freeze) Bunch. He was a veteran of the Korean Era, having served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Juanita McCafferty in 1972. She preceded him in death in 1985.

Lee worked for Freeland’s Gun Shop in Rock Island, retiring as manager in 1990 after 32 years of service. He loved fishing, hunting, and gardening, and always had the best tomatoes. He also enjoyed most sports, especially Chicago Bears football.

Those left to honor his memory include his longtime companion and love, Barbara Lundy, Rock Island; children, Argus Leon (Daphne) Bunch, Jr., Rock Island, Wesley (Karen) Bunch, Davenport, Lisa Colleen (Glen) Paper, Rock Island, and Douglas Shawn (Kim) Bunch, Westby, WI; stepchildren, Gay (Ron) Clopton, Moline, Pam (Jeff) Timm, Sturgis, MI, and Bryan Lundy, Rock Island; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Juanita, his parents and a sister, Marlene, preceded him in death.
