Erma E. Boss

Erma E. Boss, 87, of Andalusia, IL passed away Thursday, December 8, 2011 at her home in the comfort of her family. Cremation will be done with a memorial service to be held 1:30PM Tuesday December 13, 2011 at the Hodgson Funeral Home Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice. Erma was born February 6, 1924 in Moulton, IA to Leslie & Florence (Howard) Kirby. She was married to Willard Smith, Lando Jones, and then Harold Boss. Harold & Erma were married on March 10, 1973 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1997.

Earlier in life Erma had worked as a waitress at the Rock Island Boat Club before settling in to raising her family. Erma had a love for Blue Grass music, camping, fishing and playing euchre. Her family was very important to her and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.

Survivors include children Pat (Larry) Brown, Ottumwa, IA, Linda (Walter) Mitchum, Rock Island, Frances (Kim) Jones, Rock Island, Patricia Fluegel, E. Moline, Ron Boss, Boynton Beach, FL, Carrol (CJ) Partain, Silvis, Vicki (Bill) Weber, Rock Island, Donna (Dan) Newman, Rock Island, Ginger (Rick) Lovett, Boynton Beach, FL; 27 Grandchildren; 58 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; sisters Ilo Dean (Ed) Lamb, Moulton, IA, Ilo Jean Spurgon, Franklyn, IN; brothers Dick (Dorothy) Kirby, Appanoose County, IA, Pete (Helen) Gladbrook, IA, Delbert (Marget) Kirby, Indianola, IA; significate other Raymond Smith, Andalusia; and numerous nieces & nephews.

Preceding her in death was an infant son and a son William; son in law Emil Fluegel; brother Jerry Kirby; & a sister Iris McNamber.
