Shirley I. Walker

Visitation for Shirley will be Saturday, January 4, from 10 am to 12 noon at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, with a funeral beginning at 12 noon. Private interment will take place at Aledo City Cemetery, Aledo, Illinois.

Shirley I. Wagoner was born on December 7, 1925 in Aledo, the daughter of Earl W. and Vera (Mosher) Wagoner. She married Rex E. Walker on March 12, 1945, in Louisiana. Shirley graduated from Franciscan School of Nursing and worked for many years as a visiting nurse for Rock Island County, retiring in the 1997. She was an avid reader, birdwatcher, and she could crochet anything.

Those left to honor her memory are children, Mark, Bangkok, Thailand, Rexayne (Tony) Steadman, Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, Sarah, Woodstock, Illinois, Byron (Margaret), Rock Island, Illinois, and Adam Rex (Tracey), East Moline, Illinois, 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry and Mary Livingston, Colorado.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Rex, in 1974, parents, Earl and Vera Wagoner, siblings, Iris, Betty, Phyllis, and Everett.
