

Alan R. (Bob) Frye went to be with his Lord on February 2, 2018. He was born July 29, 1926 in Dearborn Michigan and graduating from Dearborn High School in 1944. He then enlisted in the US Army in 1944, attended Officers Candidate School at Ft. Benning, GA and received a 2nd Lt. commission in the infantry. He last served as a Company Commander with the 31st Infantry Regt., 7th Infantry Division in Korea. Upon separation from service in 1947 he attended pre-law courses at Hillsdale College from 1947-9, where he was a member of the golf team and an honorary scholastic society. He entered the University Of Florida College Of Law in 1949, graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in 1951 and was admitted to the Florida Bar. He then joined the FBI in 1951 as a Special Agent and served in Albuquerque, St. Louis and New York City. While assigned in St. Louis he received a number of commendations from J. Edgar Hoover and a meritorious promotion for his work on truck hijackings and a car theft ring as well as the Greenlease Kidnapping case. In New York City he served as a Field Supervisor on the Espionage Surveillance Sections; and worked on the Ruldolph Abel Spy case recently dramatized in the Tom Hanks movie "Bridge of Spies".
Following his Bureau service in 1958, he was employed as Chief of Security Police force at Cape Canaveral for Pan Am Airways and was involved in the Cuban Missle Crisis at the Cape, subsequent visits by President JFK to the Cape and numerous missile and Astronaut missions. Later he served as the Director of Security for TWA at the Kennedy Space Center. In 1968 he joined the Wackenhut Corporation in Coral Gables, FL and served for 24 years in various corporate staff positions including President of Wackenhut Services performing protective services contracts for the U.S. Government at the Kennedy and Johnson Space Center, the Nevada Nuclear Test Site and the Savannah River Plant.
Retiring in 1992 with his wife Lois, he survived the onslaught of Hurricane Andrew while "hunkered down" in the closet of their Miami residence. They relocated to Melbourne in 1993 where he was an avid golfer at the Indian River Colony Club. He was a member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI since 1958 and a long standing member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church serving as an usher for many years.
Bob is remembered for his "good guy" reputation that extended from his childhood to his death, always a faithful friend, husband and father.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Lois; daughter Jana and son-in-law Bryan Johnson; his five grandchildren, Josh Pope, Morgan Pope, Jessica Naghtegaele, Will Johnson and Rachel Alexander and Nine great grandchildren.
There will be Visitation held from 11am-12pm at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US highway 1, Rockledge, FL on Friday, February 9, 2018 with a Celebration of Bob’s life beginning at noon. Military honors and entombment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
