Brevard County resident, passed away peacefully at Wuesthoff Hospice and Pallataive Care in
Rockledge, Thursday, August 20, 2020.
She was born Sep. 8, 1926 in Washington, DC, the youngest daughter of Richard Harold Bussell and May
Eleanor Eshleman. She grew up in Washington, DC where she graduated from Anacostia Junior‐Senior
High school in June 1942.
Shortly after, with her mother and in support of the war effort, she moved to Orange, NJ. Here she
worked for the Monroe Calculator Company and then NJ Bell Yellow Pages among other endeavors. In
August of 1946, at Grace Episcopal Church in Orange, NJ, she married Bill Lachance, (2005) the father of
her two children, Paul and Larry.
In 1963, following the dissolution of this marriage, she moved with her boys to Arlington, VA where she
started a new life. Working for a couple of small companies before embarking on a career at the
Marriott Hotel, Key Bridge as a banquet secretary, Ann worked her way up to executive secretary and
was part of the original team opening the Dulles Airport Marriott hotel. She left Marriott to work as a
travel coordinator for Boeing in Arlington.
Ann retired and moved to Lost Lakes in Cocoa, Florida around 1990. She thoroughly enjoyed her 23
years working with Carnival Cruise lines before finally retiring at age 87. At Lost Lakes she met her best
friend, soul mate and future husband, Joe Pault. They spent 26 happy and fun years together before his
passing in 2016.
For the past 3 years, Ann had settled into “independent living” at The Brennity in Viera.
Our mom was strong‐willed, determined, independent, even feisty and sometimes tough but she had a
big heart. She genuinely loved life, meeting new people, dancing, travel, family and being in the
company of her numerous friends, many of whom have already passed.
She is survived by her sons, Paul of California and Larry and his partner Jacky, of Jacksonville, FL.; step
children, Joe, Jerry and Linda Pault and their families; her much loved grandchildren Troy and Melissa of
Jacksonville, Dan Rodman of Illinois, Sandra of Arizona and her mother Sheila of Oregon.
She was great‐grandmother to Noah, Caleb, Carlie, Elijah, Nicolas, Joshua, Zachary and Benjamin and shehad two great‐great grandchildren as well.
Also survived by her very much loved nephew Richard Bussell and his wife Ruth and niece Carol
Bouchard and husband Ernie “Henry” and their families as well as other nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brother Richard and sister Cecile.
Due to the current pandemic, there will be no services.
As she wished, Mom will be inurned alongside her brother at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, DC.
Thanks to the staff of Wuestoff Hospice for being so compassionate and keeping Mom comfortable in
her final days in this world. A whole‐hearted thank you to Dr. Raymond Baez, a man she often referred
to as another son and the physician who cared for her during all her years in Florida.
If you met her, you liked her. If you knew her, you loved her. … she was, undeniably, “one of a kind” and
she will be missed.
