David Wayne Murphy

David Wayne Murphy at the age of 86 went home to be with the Lord on March 30, 2023. He passed away peacefully of congenital heart failure at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida, surrounded by his wife and children.

Dave was born in 1936 In Robinson, Illinois, where he met his high school sweetheart, Lynda Sinclair, at the tender age of 16. Dave and Lynda were married in Robinson on August 25, 1956. Throughout his lifetime, he has been surrounded by many women. Daughters - Marci Murphy (Phil Ceccio) and Michele Benedeck (Dave Benedeck). Granddaughters - Lindsey Zver (Ryan Zver), Stefani Andrews (Micah Andrews) and Lacey Wiecek (Max Wiecek). Great Granddaughters – Skyar Zver, Rylin Zver, Quinn Zver, Carter Andrews and Corrie Andrews.

Dave was the son of Pat and Francis Murphy and the older big brother to Patricia Murphy, the late Sharon Tobiason and the late Susan Fischer.

Dave graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Masters in Physical Education. He was the Athletic Director at Eisenhower High School in Decatur, Illinois, until he retired and moved to Florida. Dave enjoyed many sports including golf, basketball, racquetball, tennis and fishing. He mostly enjoyed watching the evening waves with a cocktail in hand and listening to smooth jazz on his porch facing the Atlantic Ocean at Royale Towers in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Dave was a faithful husband to Lynda for 66 years and was blessed with many lifetime friends from Robinson, Decatur and Cocoa Beach. There are many fond memories of Dave and Lynda dancing to their favorite oldies, attending theme parties and enjoying each other’s company.

A Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am on April 4, 2023, at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial which is located at 5950 South US Highway in Rockledge, Florida.
